My name is Chelsey and I’ve been in the fitness industry for almost a decade!

When I first got into fitness, I just taught Zumba classes. This was so much fun for me and really disguised exercise, but after about a year of exclusively doing tons of Zumba, I suffered from an injury that caused my muscles to develop unevenly. (This isn’t Zumba’s fault by the way, I was teaching way too much and not taking care of myself)

At this point, I decided to hire a personal trainer so I could learn to lift weights properly and effectively (without hurting myself). More importantly, to fix my muscle imbalances so this wouldn’t happen again. At the time, I only made $13 an hour and I was a single homeowner. I spent around $3000 on sessions because I wanted to learn and I didn’t know any other options.

 

Fortunately, at this stage in my life, my only responsibility was taking care of myself so heading to the gym for personal training sessions wasn’t a big deal, and draining my savings account was also not a huge deal. I spent the next few years falling in love with lifting weights and even doing bodybuilding shows. I did end up losing over 40 lbs and had abs for the first time in my life. It was AMAZING!
