Your tribe affects your vibe

fitness friends healthy life inspiration Feb 17, 2020

Let's talk about something here, the "fit life." Swapping happy hours for hikes, cocktails for protein shakes, brunch dates for homemade healthy breakfasts and let's not forget a late night lift instead of a night out at the club.

I made this transition at the age of 24. But because I don't do anything half-ass, it was the most unbalanced transition anyone has ever witnessed. I went from being a wine sipping, shot taking, pizza & dessert chef to a macro tracking psychopath who wouldn't even go to a baseball game because the smell-temptation was too strong.

You guys won't believe this, I lost friends. SHOCKING, right?

(over the years, I've apologized to many of those people that I lost contact with and we've made amends.)

Let's talk about this though, if you have goals to be a different person than you are now, you probably have to to make some changes in your social life, too. You have two choices here:

#1 (preferred) Be a damn inspiration!!!! Invite your friends to the gym, invite your friends to make healthy pinterest meals and watch movies on a Friday night instead of going out, build a circle of people that lean on your for support and will provide YOU with support in return.

#2 (not a bad option either) Make new friends. I'm not saying people who don't eat healthy and exercise don't deserve your love and attention, but sometimes you just can't get your current circle to get onboard. And fair warning, it will affect your goals if you don't start surrounding yourself with supportive people.

But Chelsey, where do I meet supportive people?

I'm glad you asked, internet. You meet them while doing things that you want to be doing. Go to some group fitness classes, compliment the instructor after class and tell him or her that you're looking for some workout buddies. See if they know of any students who are gym regulars and would like a buddy! Guess what, people who workout usually like to eat pretty well, too. #goodvibes

Use social media - get on facebook and ask if anyone wants to come over and cook healthy meals for the week with you on a Sunday afternoon. I promise, someone will. You probably have people in your own circle that want in on this. It could be an every Sunday thing, too! Great accountability!

And my FAVORITE CHOICE is to join the #hitfam. We have an awesome virtual network of people that are killin it. Accountability, friendships, good vibes all around!

Don't be shy :) Share what you're doing, share your goals with the universe, the internet, etc. and in return, the universe will send you people that you can crush it with.
